The Science and Mathematics of Sound, Frequency, and Pitch
(A video by Vi Hart)
I have written a bit about sound, frequency and pitch in some of my blog articles and was thinking about making some videos. I'm not much of a vlogger though, so I never got around actually doing it.
And thankfully I didn't ... 'cause there are others that are way better vloggers then I would be. One of the nicest vloggers on the net when it comes to Math is "Vi Hart" and she made a great video about all this stuff. Yes, she does talk a lot and up-tempo in her videos ... fortunately for the "slow ones" (no offence) among us Youtubes can be rewinded with ease! ;) ...
Note from Vi Hart for her video:
"Correction: it is the "Basilar" membrane, which is what I say, but somehow between recording the script and actually drawing the stuff I got confused and thought I just pronounced my Vs poorly. Always sad to have such a simple and glaring error in something I put hundreds of hours of work into, but a "Vasilar" membrane can be the kind that a Vi draws to explain Viola Vibrations, I guess! Making up new words is just so prolightfully awstastic."
If you liked what you saw and heard, then you might enjoy many of her other videos as well ...
